Aquatic Exercise Class |
|
The Disease Prevention & Wellness Center at the Shenandoah Medical Center offers aquatic exercise classes in the indoor therapy pool. The classes offer a unique blend of upper and lower body exercise, along with cardiovascular, strengthening, and flexibility exercises. These classes are geared towards, but not limited to, persons with arthritis, fibromyalgia, joint problems, and/or post physical therapy patients. The aquatic exercise classes can be modified for all fitness levels, although the classes are targeted towards middle-aged or older adults wanting a medium/lower intensity workout. The water temperature is kept at a higher temperature, as the warm water relaxes the muscles and allows for improved joint range of motion. The following class times are available throughout the weekdays: Monday - 1pm Tuesday - Noon, 3pm, and 4pm Wednesday - 1pm Thursday - Noon, 3pm, and 4pm All classes are limited to 4 participants at a time and are one hour in length. Each individual may participate in two classes per week. All who are interested may call (712) 246-7325 to inquire on class availability. If no classes are available, all interested persons will be put on a waiting list and notified when an opening exists. All classes are taught by Jenny Wagoner. Jenny received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Corporate Wellness / Parks & Recreation Management in 2002. She received her Master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Health and Physical Education in 2003. In addition, Jenny is an ACE (American Council in Exercise)-Certified Personal Trainer as well as a NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association)-Certified Group Exercise Instructor. She has had over three years of experience in the fitness industry.
