Program

The
focus of the classes are to help increase individuals strength,
endurance, and flexibility through different forms of cardiovascular
and strength training. Even though each class is in a group
setting, they are also set up on an individual level. We take
into account a person's past medical history, overall
fitness/activity level, and their fitness goals.
During class time, individuals receive instruction on proper
exercise technique and how to make it effective. We discuss
what exercises to perform and educate how to exercise properly if a
person has a health problem such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood
pressure, high cholesterol, or a heart problem. Each class is
structured a little different than the previous one so that
individuals can experience the many forms of training that are
available. We use many exercise tools such as: treadmills,
stationary bikes, free weights, theraband, the total gym, different
leg, abdominal, and arm toning exercises, and we even do some
outdoor programs. We also educate on different training
methods so that a person may vary the type of workout they do.
Different programs we try are: continuous training, interval
training, circuit training, some aerobic activities, and kick
boxing. By the time an individual decides to graduate from the
program they should be motivated to continue, and have many
different techniques and exercises they can rely on to keep their
program interesting, challenging, and fun. |

An
individual who is currently exercising or too busy to participate in
the wellness classes may choose to set up an individual consultation
with the exercise physiologist. The exercise physiologist will
discuss the client's past/current health history, goals and needs,
and current fitness level. Based on the assessment the
exercise physiologist will set up a home exercise program for the
client. After the program is developed the client and exercise
physiologist will meet to discuss the program and show correct form
and technique. The client will be asked to make occasional
follow-up visits to check progress and technique, and change the
program as needed. |

You should exercise at
home on your own. It doesn't cost you anything if you don't
come.
How long do I do this
for?
As long as you want.
There is no definite stopping time.
Who is it tailored
toward?
More toward the elderly
population or post physical therapy patients. But programs can
be set up for anyone. Policies and

All classes are approximately one hour in length. Approximately 4-5
